What are Telehealth Psychology Sessions?

Bowen Hills Psychology has welcomed an announcement by the Federal Government that if you are required to self-isolate due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19, you will be able to access temporary Telehealth Psychology sessions (videoconference or telephone call), and still claim a Medicare rebate. Previously medicare funded telehealth services were only available to individuals in rural or remote areas of Australia.

What is a Telehealth Psychology Session?

Telehealth is the delivery of health services via online computer video conferencing technology. Bowen Hills Psychology has been offering Telehealth services for several years, and all our clinicians are well equipped to practice within this modality.

A telehealth appointment

Should you become unwell due to coronavirus and need to stay at home, just let your psychologist know that you will need a telehealth session. We will email you information on our Telehealth practices. You will need a quiet confidential area at home to conduct the session on your computer (via “Zoom” – free software available online to download) or Facetime on your phone.

Should any of our psychologists need to self-isolate, they will be able to continue to practice from home via Telehealth. If you are feeling anxious about Coronavirus and its impact, please contact your treating psychologist. Please note that Bowen Hills Psychology has well established medical grade cleaning practices in place, provided by our regular cleaners: AMC Cleaning

Bowen Hills Psychology will continue to update the community regarding any changes which may occur during the coming weeks. We are committed to helping all our clients navigate this stressful time.
