What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) launched in July 2013 and provides individualised support for individuals aged 0-65 years with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday life. For the first time, people with a disability in Australia will get to choose where and how to access their supports. Funding will go directly to you to purchase the services you need. The amount of funding you or your child is eligible for may change from year to year.

A plan is then created for each eligible NDIS participant based on specific individual needs and progress goals.

When will NDIS roll out in my area?

The NDIS has already started to roll out across Queensland. The remaining regions will being to roll out in the next 12 months.

What can Bowen Hills Psychology offer?

Bowen Hills Psychology is a registered NDIS provider of ‘Therapeutic Supports’. We can conduct psychological assessments for people with an Intellectual Disability, psychosocial disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. We assess your current level of adaptive functioning in the areas of communication, social interaction, learning, mobility, self-care and/or self-management. We then look at your subsequent support needs and goals for independence. Having a document that evidences these things can be helpful going into your planning meeting with the NDIA.
