Dr Jessica Brands

The Director of Bowen Hills Psychology, Jessica enjoys working with adolescents, adults and couples experiencing a range of difficulties. Jessica has a particular interest in treating single event and complex psychological trauma, including those involved in accidents or critical incidents, victims of violence and adult survivors of childhood physical, sexual or emotional abuse. The majority of her practice focuses on supervision and training of students completing their training in psychology, as well as providing workshops and training in the community.

Jessica completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Queensland (UQ) where she was awarded First Class Honours. Several times throughout her undergraduate degree she was awarded the Dean’s Commendation for High Achievement. After her studies, she was awarded the Australian Psychological Society’s Student Achievement Award for outstanding achievement across research, practice and academia. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, which recognises the top 15% of university students worldwide.

Jessica has practised as a psychologist within many different inpatient, outpatient and private practice settings. In addition to her practice, she lectures and supervises counselling and psychology students completing university training. She also conducts workshops and trainings in organisational and community settings, for continuing professional development and the promotion of community wellbeing.

Jessica is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists (FCCLP). She is clinically endorsed and recognised as a clinical provider of psychological services under Medicare. Jessica is also registered as a supervisor with AHPRA.
